In-Flight Skincare Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my skin change while flying?

Because the air is very thin at high altitudes, aeroplanes are pressurised to ensure those onboard can breathe comfortably. Whilst this is great for our lungs, it’s not so great for our skin. The lack of humidity in this pressurised air increases trans-epidermal water loss in the skin, leaving the skin dehydrated which may impair the skin's protective barrier.

How can I prepare my skin before flying?

The most important step before flying is to ensure that the skin’s barrier is fortified with supportive Ceramides and Lipids. This will help minimise the risk of trans-epidermal water loss which can lead to dehydration.

The night before flying, layer #4 The PreCleanse Balm and #4 The Cleanser onto the skin. Allow Formulations to infuse for 10 mins before removing.

Follow with #1 The Mask or #2 The Mask for an additional boost of supportive Actives before boarding. Apply a generous layer to clean, dry skin.  Allow the mask to infuse for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with tepid water.

Which Formulations should I prioritise packing in my carry-on baggage?

#4 The Cleanser and #5 The Cleanser (now in 100mL) gently cleanses to remove surface debris whilst optimally preparing skin for hydrating Actives.

#1 The Hydragel supports barrier function, restores skin comfort and amplifies hydration.

#2 The Hydragel defends against environmental oxidative stress.

#3 The Tinted Serum SPF50+ (now with a lockable Travel Pump) delivers advanced solar and environmental protection from The Solar Constant—which is increasingly harmful at higher altitudes due to reduced atmospheric protection.

The Instant Radiance Mist delivers instant nourishment to the complexion for skin that looks and feels more refreshed.

How can I protect my skin mid-flight?

It is ideal to cleanse your skin mid-flight. Doing so will help reduce any excess oil produced in response to the drying conditions. It will also help to decrease any debris that may have been transferred from the headrest to your complexion. Follow with your hydrating Actives and SPF for optimal protection from cabin complexion.
